One of the most compelling somatic observations that came out of the experience with Tauba and David was this question and exercise of remembering how our bodies felt before we had smartphones. In my brain there is a brilliant and lightning fast flash where the ideo-motor movement of scrolling down a screen is subtracted from my consciousness for a nano-second. It is gone before I can notice it, but it’s impression is refreshing enough. As a theme, I feel this might be interesting to explore through practice, exercises I would guide, sound journeying guided by another, or all of the above. Regarding Meditation, Hypnosis, and Past Life Regression, I offer that as a two-hour experience that could act as a structure for Sunday morning. Two hours is simply the length I have worked with but it can be expanded. It would be cool to open it up to other collaborators in a longer format, 3-4 hours. Those three modalities would be the tools with which we would explore the conscious removal of technology from our psychic fields. It’s a kind of Herculean thought experiment to imagine a present or future where this technological wave of the last 15-30 years never happened. To bring ourselves back in time to a point before there was an emotional relationship to our devices and then rewrite the timeline without their influence.

Themes:

  • Remember your body before you had a smartphone
  • Subtractive psychic technology
  • Meditation, Hypnosis, & Past Life Regression

On Meditation, Hypnosis, & Past Life Regression: Each exercise is guided by essentially the same ingredients: voice, listening, attention, sound, breath. All three have in their reputations spirituality, healing, trauma, philosophy, and teaching. They are known potential paths to realization, delusion, or gradients in between. All three are sold to us in modern society as good for us, and are also free. Including discussion, active exploration, and observation, we will practice and experience together these three popular and prevailing modalities.

A metaphorical approach to the exercises:

  • Meditation is like a glass of water: refreshing, simple, the glass is full, yet we see through it, the glass contains the water, meditation contains the mind
  • Hypnosis is like a swimming pool: we can stay shallow or go into the deep end, the container has expanded, we can go in multiple directions though we can still see the boundaries
  • Past Life Regression is like an ocean: infinite, unpredictable, mysterious, beautiful, primal, deep, sometimes dark, sometimes calming, the ocean both separates and connects the continents
